   2007-2008 Season

Musicians who would like to perform as members of the orchestra or who would like to be added to our roster of substitutes, are invited to submit a resume to:

All resumes must be received by April 7th in order to qualify for this audition.  Our personnel manager, Stan Head, will contact you personally to schedule your audition.

String players are particularly needed for the substitute list.

The Jackson Symphony is entering its 48th season and under the leadership of
Music Director Jordan Tang, the orchestra has become the leading cultural organization in Jackson and the surrounding counties of West Tennessee. Each season the orchestra presents a seven-concert subscription series, a free outdoor family concert, two free Christmas Gift to the Community concerts and a Legend Benefit Concert featuring an international pops artist. The organization provides a wide array of educational programs including two youth orchestras, a summer music camp, in-school touring ensembles, educational school concerts, master classes and string instruction.

All positions are per-service only. Rate for 2007-2008 season for section players was $50.50 for rehearsal and $56.50 for a performance. Mileage payment was .20 cents per mile (maximum distance, one-way 200 miles.) The rates for the 2008-9 season will be negotiated soon with the AFM #257. Symphony provides double lodging for rehearsal and performance nights.
